Capturing the Perfect Real Estate Headshots in Connecticut

You don’t need me to tell you that a professional headshot is essential for taking your business to the next level. But it's not just about looking good—it's about connecting with potential clients and showcasing your personality. When I received a call from Brierley Lloyd, a newly minted real estate agent for William Pitt Sotheby’s International Real Estate team in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut, I jumped at the opportunity to take her headshots. IMHO, the results speak for themselves.

Capturing the perfect real estate headshots in Connecticut comes down to a few simple things.

Here are a few takeaways as you think about booking your next headshot!

1. Shoot in a Local Spot

Shooting in a recognizable area within the community you serve is a win-win. It highlights your local expertise and dedication, and builds trust in your clients. It shows that you are not just a real estate agent, but a part of the community. For instance, if you're a real estate agent in northwest Connecticut, consider photographing in iconic local spots like the Firefly Inn in Kent, where Brierley and I went for her real estate headshots. (Truly, what is more iconic than the floral wallpaper in their cafe room!?) This location not only provided Brierley with a beautiful backdrop but also resonated with local clients who recognized and appreciated the familiar setting.

2. Show Off Your Personality

Your headshot should reflect your unique personality and approach to real estate. Clients want to see someone who is approachable, trustworthy, and professional. To achieve this, relax and be yourself during the shoot. I knowwww. It’s easier said than done, which is why you should book with someone who will make you feel comfortable and put you at ease (wink, wink). Smile naturally and use body language that conveys confidence and friendliness. Your photographer should encourage you to capture a mix of candid moments as well as posed shots. I personally prefer candid shots, which can reveal more about your personality than a traditional posed image. They often give off a more relatable and engaging vibe. :)

Pro tip: Don’t be afraid to bring props! You’ll see here that Brierley had her professional yet adorable notebook and a cute pen, which shows off her personal brand in a cute but subtle way.

3. Bring a Change of Clothes

Variety is key when it comes to headshots. Photography is an investment, and I always want my clients to maximize their time with me. And so, I always recommend bringing a change of clothes because it allows us to capture different looks and vibes, which can be useful for various marketing materials and rolled out over time. Consider outfits that range from business formal to business casual. This versatility ensures you have the right look for any platform, whether it’s your professional LinkedIn profile, your real estate website, or promotional materials.
